Vijitt Resort Phuket Review: Our Honest Take on Rawai’s Quiet Luxury Escape
We came to the Vijitt straight from ten days in Khao Sok, with two months in Bali ahead of us. Two nights in Rawai were meant to be a pit stop. We scored it 9/10.
We arrived early afternoon and the room was ready before check-in. The Deluxe Villa was bigger than our London studio flat, with an outdoor shower open to the jungle. Then came the catch: the tide retreats hundreds of metres by sunset, so we only swam in the infinity pool. Nothing is within walking distance either, and resort dinners are steep.
We love The Vijitt Resort Phuket, but it wasn’t in our plans initially. Maybe that’s why we loved it here and definitely gave it a good review and a high score. It was right after our stay for 10 days in Khao Sok and served as a relaxing time before flying into Bali for two months. Yes, it landed almost by accident.
This Vijitt Resort Phuket review covers everything: the good, the not-so-good, and why this corner of Phuket surprised us more than we expected.

We stretched the free late checkout to 12PM on day three.
September 29, 2026 This update reflect price changes, our favourite cafes and restaurants around Rawai. We’ve also mentioned the tide times and what you can do when swimming isn’t possible. No AI; all road-tested.
Why We Chose Rawai Over Patong or Kata

Patong and Kata are two of the most popular destinations for tourists in Phuket, and we’ve visited both over three times. However, we sometimes like to leave the nightlife chaos behind and take a more relaxing approach between adventures.
We will stay in Rawai again; it’s now our valid alternative to staying in Phuket. It sits on the island’s southeastern tip; it takes an hour to get to the airport, and cross the hills to get to Patong and the market crowds. While this was our first time on this part of the island, we love it, and we’ll repeat it. Genuinely, it changed how we see Phuket now.
Although bear in mind that Rawai isn’t the budget end of Phuket. Most of the resorts tucked along this coastline skip mass tourism entirely, and that exclusivity comes with a price tag. Even so, if you want one of the best resorts in Phuket for a quiet, adult-paced stay, this stretch of coast is where you’ll find it.

Is Vijit Phuket Resort worth it?
Yes, it is a really good value for money… but! We scored it 9/10. We booked the Deluxe Villa to save money. We’d pay extra for the Pool Villa next time, because two nights without a private pool was fine, but a week would not be.
Don’t come to swim: the tide went so far out that we only used the infinity pool. Rent a scooter before you arrive. Prices at the restaurant are steep, and there isn’t much at walking distance from the resort.

Spotless high standard service since our arrival at The Vijitt
Thai welcoming service is always impressive, but here at the Vijitt they went the extra mile. We were greeted with a cold towel and a fresh welcome drink. Honestly, after the peak hour in Phuket traffic (and the exhausting travel day), it was necessary to reset.
An electric cart took us through the resort, and we nearly missed our own villa entrance. The vegetation frames everything so well that the wooden door and palm-leaf roofline practically disappear into the jungle around them.
We met others while walking through, in the pool, and at the restaurant, but everyone was feeling their own private space. The greenery and forest vibes with small private villas create the tone for the perfect quiet setting.

The Room: Our Deluxe Villa
We booked a Deluxe Villa with a private patio, and it was bigger than our studio flat in London. The bed sits centrally; light comes in from every side, but luckily the curtains do a great job of blocking the light completely in the morning. We’re light sleepers, and eye masks rarely work for us. These curtains did the job the eye mask couldn’t.
The design nails a balance we don’t see often: stylish, authentically Thai, a little raw, and never over-polished for Western taste. The standout feature is the outdoor shower just off the bathroom, open to the sky and surrounded by jungle. Showering there, with a rich bergamot shower gel scenting the air, is unforgettable.

A clear glass panel separates the indoor bathroom from that outdoor shower, so we could talk to each other while one of us soaked in the deep, wide-rimmed bathtub and the other showered outside. That tub rim is wide enough to balance a cup of tea or set up a screen for a film during a long soak. Looking out through the glass into the greenery, the whole space feels secluded. We looked out at the jungle from the tub. We took more bathroom photos than we’d like to admit.
Later, working from the terrace with fast, reliable Wi-Fi turned into one of the calmest work sessions we’ve had on the road. After that, if you’re after a boutique-style romantic escape rather than a big beach resort, this room alone justifies the stay.
Now we’ve seen the Deluxe Pool Villa up close, and it’s stunning. Looking ahead, we’re already planning to book it on a future trip.
Breakfast on the Terrace
Our first morning started with breakfast delivered straight to the terrace: a crisp white tablecloth, a floral blue table runner, and a fruit platter loaded with watermelon, papaya, dragon fruit, and pineapple.
Warm croissants, hot coffee, fresh juice, chilled coconut water, and a cheese board rounded it out. One of us went for a light side salad, the other for a full English with a perfectly grilled tomato worth mentioning on its own.
The terrace layout keeps the walking paths metres away behind dense foliage, so no one walked past our terrace once. It’s one of the best in-villa breakfast setups we’ve experienced.
The Pool, the Beach, and That Sunset
The infinity pool overlooks the garden with a sea view and a small island sitting on the horizon. Right by the restaurant, staff bring towels and drinks poolside. It’s the kind of pool you don’t want to leave.
As soon as we got to the beach, we went straight to the white hammock. The golden sand and the sea waves did the rest; we fit in two, and slept for half an hour. It’s so quiet down here. The beach won us over just as much. We barely left the hammock between arrival and checkout. Every day reading, watching the bay, napping, occasionally glancing up to see the other paddleboarding across the water.
The sunset from that hammock is one of the best sunsets we’ve watched in Phuket, and we’ve seen a few. and it’s the kind of moment that makes this resort a strong pick for a romantic escape or anniversary trip.
Every afternoon after 5 pm, the tide pulls back and leaves a shallow, reflective sheet of water where we’d been standing knee-deep hours before. We walked out onto it as tiny crabs scattered around our feet and soft light hit the right side of the bay. There’s a swing near the shore too, perfect for photos, where we lingered before dinner most nights.
The Restaurant: Good, But Not Cheap
We found the restaurant very stylish; the menu might seem too westernized, though, but going through it, we found nice local suggestions. Truth is, the prices are another story. The buffet menu is definitely cheaper than if you order à la carte; that’s why we went for the package deal bundled into our room rate.
The package we opted for included two meals; usually, we were going for breakfast and dinner. Lunch was always outside.
Every day we attended breakfast around 9 AM, and still the selection was good, though we were there (and not fully awake) just one hour before breakfast closure. Coffee refills kept coming, the pastries were fresh every morning, and the waffles got me out of bed.
Because there’s little else within easy reach, and nearby options in Rawai run expensive too, we ate our first night entirely at the resort. That was new for us. We’d never spent an entire evening within resort grounds before in Phuket, always favouring Phuket Town or Patong instead. Not going to lie, not having to go anywhere for once felt like part of the holiday.
Here are three places we tried ourselves and suggest for eating out in Rawai:
- Kongharn Restaurant Thai food: Very local, a little rough around the edges, but always full. We stumbled upon it by mistake but fell in love and returned even when we weren’t staying at the Vijitt anymore. A lovely couple runs it, offering great customer service, reasonable prices, and a large menu.
- Cashew Nut: A bit more hidden on the side roads, but very good and highly reviewed. Order their steak and stay for the banana pancake with ice cream for 130 THB.
- Tahona Mexican Bar: The atmosphere is always buzzing, with outdoor tables reminiscent of a Mexican saloon. Prices are higher than the other two options but worth it, and still cheaper than eating at the resort. Margaritas, tacos, and quesadillas are naturally the highlights of the menu.

Paddleboarding and Kayaking
Feeling restless after a day of doing nothing, I grabbed one of the complimentary paddleboards, available any time with no booking needed.
I’d planned to paddle out toward the small island visible from shore, which is reachable but far, and ended up just cruising the bay instead while flying a drone overhead to capture the whole thing from above.

A few points that were pity
Even though staying at the Vijitt was great, there are some points that is better knowing to adjust expectations. Basically, what we missed in reviews and it’s worth mentioning.

Is The Vijitt Resort Phuket Worth It?
The Vijitt Resort Phuket is worth it if you want a quiet, beachfront resort escape on Rawai’s less-crowded coast, away from Phuket’s busiest strips.
We visited in late February, which is still high season in Phuket, so the weather was hot and sunny every day, while crowds and prices were a bit lower than in the peak December-January rush. It works especially well as a romantic getaway or honeymoon-style break, with private villas, an infinity pool, and a beach that delivers one of the best sunsets on the island. That makes it an easy fit for the right kind of trip.
If a private plunge pool is non-negotiable, choose the Pool Villa, and budget for resort dining.
