We were on the verge of planning our Khao Sok itinerary and didn’t know how long we would stay in this hidden gem of Thailand. Well, you are in luck, as we will share our best thoughts and some potential itineraries with you.

We’ve spent ten blissful days in Khao Sok and done every activity imaginable. We’ve got first-hand experiences and tips to share, so buckle up for a ride through one of Thailand’s most enchanting destinations.

How many days in Khao Sok?

Three to four days are the sweet spot for most travellers, allowing you to soak in the park’s highlights without feeling rushed. However, if you’re a nature enthusiast or someone who loves to dive deep into local experiences, a week or more will serve you well.

Khao Sok National Park is a gem tucked away in southern Thailand, teeming with adventure, natural beauty, and unforgettable experiences. Deciding how long to stay can be tricky. Let’s break it down:

  • Day 1: Arrive and settle in. Explore your accommodation, enjoy the serene surroundings, and plan your activities.
  • Day 2: Embark on a full-day jungle trek or a canoeing adventure. The lush rainforest and vibrant wildlife are sights to behold.

    If there’s one thing you absolutely must do in Khao Sok, it’s the Cheow Lan Lake tour. This two-day, one-night adventure is nothing short of magical. Imagine waking up in a floating bungalow, surrounded by the emerald waters of the lake, with misty mountains as your backdrop.

    Our experience included kayaking, swimming, and caving. We even had the pleasure of watching the sunrise from our bungalow—a moment we’ll never forget. The tour also includes guided hikes through the jungle, where you can spot wildlife and learn about the ecosystem from knowledgeable guides.

    Before you go, here are some essentials you need to know:

    Entrance Fee: The entrance fee to Khao Sok National Park is around 300 THB for adults and 150 THB for children.

    Best Time to Visit: The best time to visit is from November to April, during the dry season. The weather is cooler, and the park is lush after the rainy season.

    What to Pack: Sturdy hiking shoes, insect repellent, a good camera, swimwear, flip-flops, a dry bag, and a sense of adventure.

    How to Get to Khao Sok National Park

    Getting to Khao Sok is relatively easy, but it requires some planning:

    • From Bangkok: Fly to Surat Thani or Phuket, then take a bus or taxi to Khao Sok. // BOOK HERE!
    • From Surat Thani: It’s a 2-hour bus ride to Khao Sok. Buses run frequently and are quite affordable. // SEE PRICES HERE!
    • From Phuket: It’s a 3-hour drive or bus ride. This is a popular route for those coming from the beaches of Phuket. // RESERVE NOW!

    We travelled from Bangkok to Surat Thani and then took a small Van to Khao Sok. The journey was smooth, and we had to wait just short of one hour in Surat Thani for the van to our final destination.

    Accommodation in Khao Sok ranges from budget hostels to luxury resorts. It is also one of the best destinations for backpackers in Thailand. It is quiet, comfortable, with many activities but also definitely cheap. Here are some of our recommendations:
