King Power Mahanakhon Skywalk Review 2026: Is It Worth It? (Our Honest Experience)

Is Bangkok’s Mahanakhon Skywalk worth it in 2026? My honest review of the glass floor thrill, stunning skyline, ticket prices (~1,000–1,200 THB), best sunset slot, and a secret café with even better views of the tower.

Yes, in 2026 the Mahanakhon Skywalk is still thrilling – glass floor goosebumps, 360° Bangkok skyline, no time limit. But at 1,000–1,200 THB it’s premium: worth it for sunset views, skip if budget/temples first.

We got up to the 78th Floor, 314 metres above the ground, walking on a special glass and it was one of the most exciting experiences in Bangkok.

The Mahanakhon skywalk is undoubtedly one of the most thrilling experiences of our lives. You will walk on clear glass, overlooking the ground, with tiny cars and people passing by. It looks surreal!

This guide to the King Power Mahanakhon glass walk experience will help you plan the activity through the best time and prices and secure your ticket in advance.

Pro tip: There is an alternative way to enjoy the Mahanakhon Building, if you only want the view. Below is our view from % Arabica Empire Tower for the best cafe.

We visited the King Power Mahanakhon Terrace on our second trip to Thailand.

February 27, 2026 This update reflect the change of ticket prices, new activities on the terrace, but also latest find, cheaper than taking the ticket to the top of the Mahanakhon. We did it ourselves, sipped that drink, paid for activities.

Is it worth visiting Mahanakhon SkyWalk?

Yes, the Skywalk Mahanakhon is exciting. The experience is comparable to other tall buildings around the world, but here it is more like a terrace with a bit of fun. Starting from the elevator, our ears were popping, as it climbed fast to the 78th floor in just 50 seconds, which feels barely humanly possible.

We’ve also been to Dubai Burj Khalifa, Colombo Lotus Tower, Menara Kuala Lumpur among the tallest buildings in the world. The Mahanakhon building didn’t disappoint.

While in the hall, you’ll not feel like you are on the roof of Bangkok, but it actually gives you goosebumps and thrill once you are on the mid-terrace. Then, when we stepped on the glass one by one and approached it like a sloth. Slowly, making every inch count and stable.

The Skywalk and the view from the tallest building in Bangkok are worth the expensive ticket. Visiting it at sunset gave us a different feel of the view and the city from the top of the observatory deck. Also, just before sunset, we got huge discounts for drinks and food, like the two-for-one on cocktails.

Pros and Cons of visiting the King Power Mahanakhon rooftop

  • Pros: Insane views, no time limit (we lingered 2+ hours), sunset happy hour deals at the bar.
  • Cons: 1,000+ THB tickets sting vs Bangkok norms, long lines without skip-the-line, limited glass tray space (30 people max).

Fast Facts

  • Fast Facts
  • Tickets: 880–1,080 THB adult (day/sunset); kids/seniors 350 THB. Book online for perks.
  • Best time: Arrive 60–90 min pre-sunset for light shifts.
  • Duration: Allow 2 hours.
  • Nearest BTS: Chong Nonsi (Silom Line), right outside.

Our personal experience at Mahanakhon Rooftop

When you have been once, you will go back again. Even though it is one of the most expensive attractions in Bangkok. The queue gets long, and you will wait for hours before getting the chance to get to the top.

We were lucky to have a jump-the-queue ticket, so it was faster, but not a proper skip-the-line. Yes, it is, as it was for us an unmissable experience in Bangkok, as there is no bigger observatory deck in Thailand.

The view from the top is insane, especially if you visit before sunset, you can witness it in daylight, blue hour, and dark. There is no time limit to the visit, which is great, as we spent about 2 to 3 hours on the top. We went more than once on the sky glass to feel the adrenaline pumping. It was our date night in Bangkok, so we spent time enjoying a drink and some fun.

Well, it’s not everything, okay?! At the time of our visit, there were many people, so be ready to find your corner to snap photos. A good factor to take into account is that there is only limited space on the Glass Skywalk, so you have to wait for your turn.

Also, we have to reconsider it, as we found the best place to enjoy the view of the King Power Mahanakhon building in its entirety.

In 2026, my favourite cafe in the world, “Arabica”, opened on the 55th floor of the Empire Tower, right in front. We went for a coffee and a view. Coffee price is very high in Thailand, but it’s worth it for the view. We paid 180 THB, stood for about one hour, facing the best building in the city. This is a budget alternative to getting to the top and joining the long queue.

The cup of Arabica seems floating on the glass on the 55th floor of Empire tower in Bangkok, looking at the Mahanahkon building
The velvet coffee (under 200 THB/person) made us appreciate the building’s design more than standing on it.

Best view of Mahanakhon: % Arabica Empire Tower (Budget Alternative)

We’ve spent Christmas in Bangkok recently with some friends, and were more focused on alternative experiences. We found that our favourite café in the world just opened on the 55th floor of Empire Tower, right across from Mahanakhon: % Arabica. We skipped re‑climbing the tower and sipped a velvet Tokyo Latte (180 THB) with a floor‑to‑ceiling panorama of the pixelated skyscraper and Sathorn skyline instead.

Why it beats the rooftop? Relaxed minimalist vibe, no queues/heights, direct Mahanakhon framing (like Burj Khalifa from Sky View Observatory).

How to get there: Walk 5–7 mins from Chong Nonsi BTS or 1 stop on Silom Line. Open ~7am–9pm (check locally).

Mini‑itinerary: Sunset at Skywalk → coffee here for night shots of the lit tower.

Mahanakhon Skywalk Tickets and Prices

Purchase your tickets in advance to avoid standing in line twice. These are the tickets available:

Current Mahanakhon Skywalk Ticket Prices

  • Daytime (10am–3:30pm): 880 THB adults, 350 THB kids (3–12)/seniors (60+).
  • Sunset slots (4pm/5pm/6pm): 1,080 THB adults—fewer tickets, higher demand.

Cheapest Way to Book Mahanakhon Tickets Online

Grab via GetYourGuide or Klook for instant e-tickets (our affiliate fave—saves queuing twice). As said before our Skip-the-line ticket was worth it. The price is 200 THB more but zips you up fast.

Purchasing online through GYG or Klook, means that you necessarily have to redeem with a valid ID. We used passport. The queue to the counter is smaller than the ticket counter purchase one, you’ll get your ticket within 10 minutes even on busy days.

Skip-the-Line and Combo Tickets (SkyWalk, SkyBeach, SkyVerse)

The offer for tickets is insane; you can have a bundle with priority access and bar perks. Like we had a glass of bubbles each included in the ticket.

Also, you can include the Sky Beach, which is one of the most trendy rooftop bars in Bangkok. Minimum spend at sunset is set at 2,000 THB, which is what you’ll spend for just a couple of drinks and one side.

The combo with Sky Verse gives access to the 4th-floor digital gallery. It’s another trendy activity in Bangkok, recently viral on social, which, to be fair, is worth only if you are a fan of digital art, or bundled with the skywalk. The ticket alone costs 350 THB.

How to avoid queues at Mahanakhon Skywalk

The Mahanakhon skywalk is an incredible experience, but it can easily turn into your nightmare. The temperature was hot, like every day in Bangkok, and we were approaching sunset time; the queue was long, but we quickly realised we had the skip-the-line ticket. Yep it took a bit of time to realize, as the ticket are colour graded, and we couldn’t spot anything with the jump the queue hint.

We felt relieved for a second. You can wait hours, as the elevators is limited to 12 people per time. Also, they have a one in one out policy. On the top they allow only 150 people at time at sunset.

You can avoid queuing to get to the 78th floor by purchasing our same ticket. It gives you a quick entrance, just a small queue to get to the elevator and an exciting five-star experience in Bangkok.
