Best Places to Stay in Tamraght: Honest Accommodation Guide (For Surfers, Nomads & Sun-Seekers!)

From 180dh budget hostels to surf camps with infinity pools, we toured Tamraght’s best stays. We slept at a basic guesthouse, worked from coliving rooftops, and visited the new high-end spots. Whether you’re a surfer or a digital nomad, here’s the honest lowdown on where to book.

Wondering where to stay in Tamraght? After bouncing between surf hostels, budget guesthouses, and the odd “fancy by the sea” spot ourselves on our long Morocco trip, we know exactly how confusing picking accommodation here can be.

This isn’t a recycled list—everything we share comes from our own sand-in-shoes experience. Whether you’re chasing the best area to stay in Tamraght for digital nomads, couples, surf addicts, or budget travellers, our honest tips cut through the guesswork.

This guide is all about finding the perfect surf shack. We stayed in a budget room with a shared kitchen, visited friends in upscale surf camps, and learned that “sea view” often means “distant blue line.” We tracked WiFi speeds and shower pressure at every stop.

Where to stay in Tamraght: three main areas

We get it. Choosing where to stay in Tamraght feels like betting on a surf forecast—one side baking in old-school charm, the other flexing new builds, and the coast showing off for the Instagram crowd.

Prices are all over, but you’ll not end up on the top of the hill, sweating every day to get to the shore. If you want to stay in Tamraght, you’ll likely leave the flashy Taghazout behind, or you’re looking for something budget-friendly. We were there too.

Accommodations in Tamraght are divided into three main areas:

  • The old Hillside: Narrow streets, family-run guesthouses, surf shops, and all the daily chaos of a working Moroccan town. Walk five minutes and you’re among chatty shop owners, the scent of frying sardines, and, if you’re us, on a mission for decent Wi-Fi.
  • The upcoming Digital Nomads’ new side: While the old town isn’t officially divided into two, we found a substantial difference from the side we were. With the increase of surfers and digital nomads moving from the nearby Taghazout, a part of town where the popular Hey Yallah and Zawya are attracting more people who stay longer in their apartments.
  • The Coastal/New Build Strip: Newly-minted apartments, “Instagrammable” hotels, and the flashiest pads hugging the water, especially those that blur the border into Taghazout. More polished, but sometimes eerily spotless. If you need a pool and plush towels (or are travelling with someone who does), this is your jam.

For Digital Nomads & Remote Workers

Our first two weeks in Morocco were spent balancing final tasks, working hard, and enjoying the pleasant beach vibes. While planning the rest of our Morocco itinerary, it was essential to find a place that offered good Wi-Fi, was quiet at night, and still allowed for some social interaction. These are the accommodations we suggest in Tamraght for Digital Nomads:

SurfAppart Morocco | Instead of being sentenced to another noisy dorm or a cramped double, you can finally have your kitchen. Grocery prices are very minimal, so you can spend a bit more on your room, even if travelling solo. This place offers a secure spot to meet others, has strong internet, and provides a quiet night’s sleep. // CHECK HERE!

Surf and Friends is where we spend half of our day, between our laptops and coffee. Their open-air café runs on strong espresso and stronger Wi-Fi, and it’s as close as Tamraght gets to a coworking collective. Surf and Friends is a co-living space with nice rooms and a great view. The best part is the atmosphere and the rooftop pool. You don’t need to climb the hill to relax and beat the sun. // BOOK HERE!

Surfers’ accommodations in Tamraght

Here for waves and wear your board shorts to breakfast? Tamraght comes alive for people who’d rather re-wax a shortboard than recharge their Kindle. If you arrive salt-streaked and unbothered, hostels catering to surfers are your jam.

CHILL SURFER HOSTEL wins steady points for its honest hostel energy. Hammocks swinging, buckets of sand at the door, late starts, early surf runs. Prices are affordable, and the service is rated as one of the best in town.

Freebirds Hostel is another collective, with a soul of a co-living, even if they don’t call it that. You have use of the kitchen, and so shared meals will create lasting friendships. Rooms are great, but if you want to save some money, opt for their bunk beds.

Diman Surf Hostel is a little more low-key compared to the others on our list of the best places to stay in Tamraght. Diman Surf Hostel offers a private beach, making it a better option for your privacy. Isn’t it a secret that it is a favourite among solo travellers, especially females.

Tamraght accommodation for couples

We travel as a couple and are always on the lookout for places where we can meet others while also maintaining our privacy. That’s why it’s sometimes not easy to find the right place. These are our best picks for you twosome.

Pickalbatros White Beach Taghazout is honest-to-goodness hotel luxury, even though it’s technically in Taghazout. They often host pool day, which is also open to the public. We passed by this resort many times on our boardwalk walk, and couldn’t indulge more on the big ocean deck, nap-worthy beds. If you have the budget, definitely go for it.

Dar Sultana Guesthouse is the opposite end: beautiful patio, friendly faces, with yoga sessions at sunset. Each morning felt serene (and breakfast is worth crawling out of bed for—even if you try to keep the romance going). Tranquil, clean, authentic, with the kind of vibes you want for your romantic gateway in Morocco.
